Robbery vs. Aggravated Robbery
Robbery is charged as a second-degree felony and occurs when an individual
commits a theft offense in addition to knowingly causing bodily injury
to another or threatens the victim of injury or
death. Aggravated robbery, however, is classified as a first-degree felony and
occurs when an individual causes serious bodily harm, uses a deadly weapon
or causes fear of injury or death when that person is either 65 years
old or disabled.
If convicted of robbery, penalties can include:
- 2-20 years in prison
- $10,000 in fines
If convicted of aggravated robbery, penalties can include:
- Up to 99 years in prison
- $10,000 in fines
